Onboard the Fuji, oil fires were extinguished with foam made in a foam generator, while normal fires were extinguished by attaching hoses to fire hydrants, then pumping sea water into the hoses and spraying it on the fire. Electrical fires were extinguished using carbon dioxide fire extinguishers or the like.
